Call to shine your Light for the Bay
The Bay Vigil is calling all lovers of the Bay to a Vigil on Tuesday, January 8th from dusk to 10 pm. By joining together and shining our little lights around the Bay, we shall demonstrate our concern and care about this Bay.
You may enjoy a family affair – a picnic on the beach! You may be a group of supporters of the appeal to the Federal Court. You might be business owners expressing your appreciation for the Bay and your dismay at the dredging which shall benefit a few at the expense of many.
You may be a group of swimmers, divers, boaters, yachtees or fisherfolk who acknowledge your interaction with this Bay as an integral part of your lives.
The page on How to get Involved contains a file for a flier you can distribute to others.
We invite and call everyone who is willing and able, to join us in forming a chain of lights around the Bay. By early January, we plan to post here a network of sites and people who know they shall be there surrounding the Bay on the night of January 8th.

Well done people . We’ll be there on the night .
By the way , had trouble getting into this site when I google searched it . Only got in via the email clicklink.
Thanks James – our first word of encouragement! Re the Google search , it takes time and a number of hits on a new site for it to show up on google. The fact that your link took you straight there indicates the site DOES exist. Google is like a yellow Pages directory. Enjoy your summer!
Just heard about this site from 3AW. I’m so glad to see this site and also to hear so many people calling in to 3AW to express their opposition to the dredging. I’ll be shining a very big, bright torch on Tuesday from my beach, and I’ll try and get friends and family there too. I hope we can stop this insane vandalism of our beautiful bay.
Just to let you know that we are organising a vigil at Portarlington for the evening of January 8 and have delivered fliers to many shops in Portarlington and Drysdale. Have also had some publicity in the local free newspaper “The Bellarine Echo”. Any further promotion you can give would be much appreciated.
I have a new lantern, a bag of lollipops and a few Bay related songs on CD to set the mood at Elwood. I was delighted to hear previously unknown people expressing their anger about the CDP and their intention to be at the Vigil on Tuesday.Thank you, Hilary, for providing this great oportunity.
great idea. going down to sorrento in support.
